Comptroller Godwin Otunla Takes Over Mantle Of Leadership At Murtala Muhammad Area Command
Comptroller Godwin Otunla, the former Customs Area Controller of Ogun 1 Area Command, has assumed office as the new Customs Area Controller of Murtala Muhammed Area Command, after the retirement of Comptroller Michael T Awe, who was the former controller of the command.
During the handing ceremony held at the command’ Headquarters in Ikeja Comptroller Godwin Otunla, declared that he is committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service delivery.
In the area of trade facilitation, he believes that with the support from the management, the command will streamline cargo clearance and enhance efficiency.
In the area of revenue collection, he said he will continue to intensify his efforts in ensuring that every kobo due to the government is collected in accordance with the law. He promised to take deliberate actions to block revenue leakages within the command.
In the area of anti-smuggling operations, he said the command under his leadership will intensify the anti-smuggling operations.
He further warned unwilling, unrepentant smugglers and other economic saboteurs within the command to desist from their illegal operations, adding that his officers and men were battle ready to take them out of business.
In addressing engagement with stakeholders, he said to foster understanding and collaboration, the command during his tenure will actively engage with stakeholders, including trade associations and government agencies.
He disclosed that through dialogue and partnership, the command seek to address concern, solicit feedback, and find mutually beneficial solutions to the challenges the command will encounter.
Moreover, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, told officers to remain steadfast, dedicated and law-abiding, while urging invited stakeholders to partner with the command to achieve excellence performance.
He added that together the command shall raise the revenue bar and institutional integrity.
In his comment during the ceremony, Comptroller Awe in his farewell address,
pointed out that the achievements of the command in the area of revenue generation, national security, anti-smuggling operations, and trade facilitation.
He however said, he is proud of what the command have accomplished during his tenure, saying he is confident that the command is in good hands with Comptroller G A Otunla, as the Customs Area Controller.
Dignitaries in attendance during the ceremony were senior officials, stakeholders, and colleagues, who witnessed the handing over ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, he noted that with Comptroller Godwin Otunla as Customs Area Controller of Murtala Muhammed Area Command, he believes that he will take the command to the greater level.
