Comptroller Frank Onyeka Remains Steadfast In His Core Responsibilities Of Revenue Generation, Anti-smuggling Operations, And Trade Facilitation

••• Rakes in ₦1.45 trillion in November 2025. Receives two excellence performance awards from the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), for being the best in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and the role he played in the introduction of B’Odogwu.

In the face of current economic challenges facing the country, the Tincan Island Customs Command has continued to maintain its leadership position in revenue generation, and curtailing anti- smuggling activities.

The Customs Area Controller of Tincan Island Customs Command, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, said the command has recorded a total sum of (₦135,210,533,902.89k) in November, 2025.

This revenue figure shows a significant improvements over ₦120,196,625,585.37 generated in the corresponding period of November 2024.

All in all, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, who said the command has recorded a total sum of
₦1,451,302,144,680.89 from January to November 2025, also attributed this impressive performance to unwavering commitment to efficiency, transparency and accountability.

Condemning the smuggling activities, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, said during the period under review, the command
has made several seizures of illicit substances such as cannabis indica, methamphetamine and other hard drugs, concealed in some containers imported into the port, with a street value of N5, 304, 000, ,000.00, notably in the month of October 2025.

Comptroller Onyeka is reported to be a competent administrator, who keyed into trade tools of Advance Ruling System and the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme for trade efficiency.

During the Comptroller-General of Customs Conference, on behalf of Tincan Island Port Command, he received two awards, for being the best in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the role he played in the introduction of B’Odogwu.

It is believed that these awards underscore the vital roles being played by Comptroller Frank Onyeka and his men in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities, and their contributions to national development.

In addressing engagement with stakeholders, he said to foster understanding and collaboration, the Tincan Island Port Customs Command, engages with stakeholders. He revealed that through dialogue and partnership, the command seeks to address concerns, and find mutually beneficial solutions to the challenges the command encounter.
He said this inclusive approach enhances transparency, trust, effectiveness in their operations at the command.

He disclosed that the success of their operations would not be possible without the support and collaboration of their stakeholders.

Inspite of the challenges which occurred during transition from the NICIS 11 to the B’Odogwu software platform, the command has made remarkable achievements, despite the challenges, in addition with the awards received at the CGC’s conference.

He said the journey has been smooth with the dismantling of various operational bottlenecks, leading to streamlined operations with the introduction of the one-stop-shop, and the national single window project which comes up next January.

He said the command is made unconducive for illegitimate traders, while those engaged in the importation of contraband cargo are no longer finding the command a safe haven for their illicit trade.

By virtue of the position Comptroller Frank Onyeka occupies, he is a man who is fearless, dogged pacesetter, who constantly plan to take Tincan Island Customs Command to the next level.

His selfless performance and ambition have brought him recognition. What is significant about him is the fact that he keeps strengthening the robust working relationship among agencies of government for peaceful working environment to promote revenue generation, and block revenue loopholes and leakages.
