Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar Takes Over Mantle Of Leadership At Lekki Free Trade Zone Command

••• Promises to sustain the increase revenue profile of Lagos Free Trade Zone, as the command generate a total revenue of N459, 848, 420, 344. 77 under the leadership of the retiring Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Olanrewaju Abdulwahab Olumo.

Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar has taken the mantle of leadership as the new Customs Area Controller of the Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) after the retirement of her predecessor, Comptroller Olanrewaju Abdulwahab Olumo.

At a press conference held to commemorate the retirement of the outgoing Customs Area Controller and the official handover ceremony, Comptroller Olumo disclosed that, the command under his leadership from January to August 2025, recorded a total revenue of ₦459,848,420,344.77.

Besides, it is reported that this figure represents a significant increase in total revenue over a two year period, surpassing the ₦359,999,366,368.00 generated in 2024, and N74, 048 billion in 2023.

He attributed the impressive revenue performance in 2025 to the renewed commitment, rededication, and professionalism of the officers and men of the Command.

He noted that the dedication by the officers and men of the command has led to an extraordinary 500 percent increase in total revenue generation over a two-year period.

Aside from this, he also acknowledged the vital role of stakeholders’ collaboration, the effective use of technology, and the unwavering support from the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, in achieving this remarkable revenue growth throughout most of 2025.

In his remarks, Comptroller Olumo, expressed gratitude to the media for its objective coverage of the events at
the command during his tenure and requested that similar cooperation be extended to his successor.

At the end, Comptroller Hauwa KA Abubakar commended her predecessor for his outstanding performance and pledged to build upon his successes. She therefore sought for the cooperation of all stakeholders, including the media, to ensure her tenure is both successful and eventful.
