Comptroller Akingbade Receives Participants Of Junior Course 25 Students, Delivers Keynote Address On Technology-Driven Excice Control
The Customs Area Controller, Ogun II Area Command, Comptroller Olusola Olukemi Akingbade, recently received participants of Junior Course 25 from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, as they commenced a study tour to the Command in Abeokuta.
The reception, held at the command’s Customs House Headquarters, in Quarry Road, Ibara, Abeokuta, brought together 15 participants comprising students, supervising officers, and directing staff from the College.
Significantly, the visit provided an opportunity for the participants to engage with the command’s leadership and gain practical insights into customs excise operations.
In his opening remarks, Assistant Comptroller of Customs A.Y. Ibrahim disclosed that the study tour is an integral component of the Junior Course curriculum, designed to expose students to field operations across selected customs commands.
He noted that the exercise enables participants to observe firsthand operational procedures and develop practical recommendations based on their findings.
Commenting on the focus of the tour, Assistant Comptroller Ibrahim stated that this year’s theme, “Leveraging the Use of Technology as a Tool for Effective Excise Control and Protection of Society,” reflects the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to harnessing technology to strengthen excise administration and enhance public protection.
He expressed confidence that the students would benefit immensely from the wealth of knowledge and operational experience available at Ogun II Area Command.
The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Olusola Akingbade, who delivered keynote address, warmly welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to supporting the study tour.
Accordingly, she assured the participants of the command’s full cooperation, pointing out that officers of Ogun II Area Command were prepared to provide the necessary guidance, information, and operational exposure required to enrich their research.
She further encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunity by engaging actively with officers and relevant stakeholders throughout the exercise.
Besides, she expressed optimism that the knowledge and experience gained during the tour would contribute significantly to their professional development and prepare them for greater responsibilities within the Nigeria Customs Service.
Importantly, she said the study tour is scheduled to continue until Friday, during which the participants will visit selected excise factories and Free Trade Zone enterprises within the ommand.
Before the end of the study tour, Comptroller Olusola Akingbade said the participants are also expected to hold interactive sessions with key stakeholders before concluding the
exercise later in the week.
