ACG Yusuf Visits Idiroko Customs Command

…Commends officers impressive performance
The Zonal Co-ordinator of Zone ‘A’ of Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) Saidu A Yusuf, visited Idiroko Customs Command in October 2024 to assess the level of performance and compliance by the officers and men of the command.
The ACG, who was received by the Customs Area Controller of Idiroko Customs Command, Comptroller James Ojo, alongside other agencies, commended officers and men of the command and the leadership of various security agencies for keeping the flag flying in the interest of the nation and the citizens.
In the words of ACG Saidu Yusuf: “Our common goal is to provide security for the nation and the citizens. Gone are the days when Customs, NDLEA, DSS and other agency were not working together as government agencies to produce result.
During the commissioning of the Idiroko Command’s renovated clinic and officers mess, ACG Yusuf, said the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has embarked upon various projects, which include Zone ‘A’ Headquarter’s 10 storey building at warehouse road, Apapa, Lagos; Zone ‘A’ construction building at Harvey road, Yaba, Lagos.
He said, other projects currently under construction include customs village in Remo, Ogun state, that would house the Federal Operations Unit, Zone ‘A’, Nigeria Customs Training College, library and sport complex.
Aside from this, he said the CGC had lauched lots of housing scheme across all the zones in Nigeria. He therefore urged whoever is interested to key into it through the welfare unit at the Headquarters, to have houses of their choice.
In the area of various welfare packages, he said, they are now with the wages commission, and no more at the board level. He assured that all of them will be beneficiaries if fully implemented.
The Zonal Co-ordinator, said some of the packages include severance packages for retirees, housing scheme for officers and men, insurance and promotion for all cadres of the service.
He is quoted as saying that: “We need to let you understand that the management is doing quite a lot of things to ensure that the service is positioned to a level
all of us will be proud.
ACG Saidu Yusuf, said for the past one year, the CGC has been able to role out some of the World Customs Organization’s tool, to ensure that the service perform its duties effectively.
ACG Yusuf, stated that, to lift up the standard of the service to international level, they have been able to roll out advancd ruling and AEO. According to him, these are some of the tools that will ensure the service is equipped at a high level, as regard their duty.
He charged officers and men of the command to always speak out when whenever they are face with any personal challenges. He urged officers to present their personal challenges before the command. He added that, if the area command can not handle their challenges, they can present the challenges before zonal command, and if the challenges are not solve, they can take it to the Headquarters.
