Ogun II Area Customs Command Records N20bn In 8 Months

The Zonal Co-ordinator, Zone ‘A’ of Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Saidu Yusuf, has commended the Ogun 11 Area Command for generating over N20 billion between January and August.
ACG Yusuf gave the commendation when he paid a visit to the Ogun 11 Area Command headquarters on Thursday 2024 in Abeokuta .
He noted that the Customs management was quite impressed with the performance of Area 2 command, Abeokuta, under the leadership of Comptroller Bisi Alade.
He said during the period under review, the command has made remarkable performance in the area of revenue generation, which has led to the collection of over N20 billion, as against N14 billion collected during the corresponding period of 2023,
He said, inspite of harsh economic situation in Nigeria and unfavorable exchange rate , the command has been able to make improvement in its statutory function.
He announced that, the customs service would continue to work in synergy with stakeholders, adding that the service was ready to adopt all available technology devices to ensure safety of borders.
The Assistant Comptroller-General, added that the current leadership of Nigeria Customs Service has remained active and effective in intelligence gathering.
He disclosed that the synergy with other sister agencies is to ensure that there is effective control of the border, and to end illegal activities.
The ACG, who acknowledged that, all the borders are porous, also noted that the only way the service can monitor those borders is by using modern technology.
He announced that the Nigeria Customs Service is actively involved in the training and re-training to enable the service use all this modern technology.
Besides, he warned anyone contemplating to smuggling illicit arms, ammunition, drugs into Nigeria to have a rethink.
In his remarks, the Customs Area Controller of Area 2 command, Comptroller Bisi Alade, appreciated ACG Saidu Yusuf, for his commendation.
At the end of the visit, he urged officers at the command to continue to discharge their duties effectively.
