Comptroller Sarah Wadinda Assumes Office At Lagos Industrial Area Command

The Comptroller- General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has approved the appointment of Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, as the Customs Area Controller of the Lagos Industrial Command of the service.
In a press statement made available by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Juliana D Tomo, the newly appointed Customs Area Controller, tóok over from Comptroller Rebecca Chokor, who retired in December, 2024.
According to Tomo, the Customs Area Controller affirmed her commitment to facilitate trade, increase the command’s revenue in line with the CGC’s policy thrust.
Tomo said, Lagos Industrial Area Command, received a transformative Customs Area Controller in the person of Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who is the successor of Comptroller Rebecca Chokor, who is retired.
According to a press statement, Comptroller Wadinda, who assumed office as the Customs Area Controller of Lagos Industrial Area Command on Thursday, 6 February 2025, affirmed her commitment to facilitate trade with an open door policy to officers and stakeholders. She promised to align with the focus of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR in trade facilitation and revenue collection.
She therefore noted that, the activities of Lagos Industrial Area Command, shall be in line with the CGC’s policy thrust which is centred on collaboration, consolidation and innovation.
The Customs Area Controller on Thursday, 13 February 2025 had a maiden meeting with all heads of unit of the command and stakeholders, to strengthen collaboration with excise stakeholders for a better revenue drive in Lagos Industrial Area Command. She promised to work towards achieving an enhanced effective cooperation between the Lagos Industrial Area Command and excise traders on trade facilitation and excise regulation compliance.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, Juliana Tomo stated that the Customs Area Controller, who engaged stakeholders of the command, also reiterated her desire to facilitate legitimate trade.
Tomo noted that the Customs Area Controller reminded stakeholders that Lagos Industrial Area Command’s responsibility would be to supervise, collect and account for excise duty from factories producing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages within Lagos State.
In addition, Tomo said during the maiden meeting at the Lagos Industrial Area Command conference hall, the Customs Area Controller pledged her allegiance to the Comptroller-General of Customs’ policy thrust, which are consolidation, collaboration and innovation.
She told all officers and men of the command to be committed and dedicated in their various schedules, towards achieving the policy thrust for an enhanced excise duty collection.
She said, the Lagos Industrial Area Command monitors the production processes, ensuring compliance with excise regulations, facilitate trade and providing necessary support and guidance to excise traders.
She further encouraged stakeholders to acquire the knowledge of the established Nigeria Customs Service’s laws for a seamless excise trade and a stronger trade relationship with the command.
At the end, the Customs Area Controller reaffirmed that she will use the leadership position to build and improve on the legacy left by her predecessor as well as upholding the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service professionally.
