The Port and Terminal Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated the sum of N150 billion in four months after the introduction of the B’Odogwu revenue platform by the Service.
The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, who disclosed the revenue figure, said the revenue was collected between November 11, last year and March 4, 2025.
Comptroller Daniyan revealed that the B’Odogwu platform played a key role in the generation of the revenue after the Service exited the Web Fontaine NICIS platform. He noted that, the introduction of the new platform has been done with wisdom by the
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, describing it as a laudable initiative.
Comptroller Tenny Mankini Daniyan, who said there was initial challenges during the pilot stage, also said the platform has been having smooth sail with more revenue being generated. In addition to this, he said the platform which has been introduced in Apapa for sensitisation, will also be introduced in other commands.
Comptroller Daniyan is quoted as stating that: “Since the CGC came in, he has introduced projects like Time Release Study, Advanced Ruling for the benefits of the trading public, facilitating trade and ensuring that traders get more money”.
He noted that “B’Odogwu is one of his legacy projects, which is also called Unified Customs Management System (UCMS) to replace the existing NICIS.
In addition to this, he said the section 28 of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, empowers customs to initiate a platform for revenue collection, saying that the CGC in his initiative started this B’Odogwu to replace NICIS.
He recalled that on October 23rd, 2024, the CGC launched the B’Odogwu in PTML command and ever since they started, the baby is growing very well now.
