Tin Can Customs Command Records Over ₦128.4 Billion In May
In pursuance of the agenda of the comptroller-General of Customs, the Tin Can Island Customs Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, under the visionary leadership of Comptroller Frank Onyeka, made significant impact in the area of revenue generation, which has resulted in the record-breaking revenue of over ₦128.4 billion in May
2025.
The adage which says that good people will shine even in darkness is tailored made for Comptroller Frank Onyeka.
He has demonstrated that he is a core administrator with the way he has appreciable and positive impact in Tin Can Island Customs Area Command within the short period of time he became the Customs Area Controller of the command.
The report made available by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Superintendent of customs Oscar Ivara , revealed that the command recorded a total of N128, 446, 323, 224.79 billion during the month under review.
The report said this revenue figure reflect a significant increase when compared to the N92, 671, 603, 418.04 recorded in the corresponding month of May 2024.
Further review of the revenue profile of the command has shown that the command recorded ₦145 billion in April 2025, reflecting a remarkable increase from ₦95.5 billion collected in April 2024, underscoring consistent growth in revenue generation.
Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka has demonstrated unwavering commitment to its core mandates of trade facilitation, anti-smuggling enforcement, and revenue collection. Significantly, the stakeholder engagement within the port has been improved, with commendation from industry players.
Comptroller Onyeka reaffirmed his dedication to seamless revenue generation through facilitation of legitimate trade.
Comptroller Onyeka, expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, dsm, fnipr psc (+) and his management team, for initiating various strategies that have enhanced the performance of the command, which have contributed to achieving the core mandate of the Service.
In addressing engagement with stakeholders, the report said, to foster understanding and collaboration, the Tin Can Island Customs Area Command actively engages with stakeholders.
The report revealed that through dialogue and partnership, the command seeks to address concerns, solicit feedback, and find mutually beneficial solution to the challenge the command encounter
He said this alignment has translated into a steady month-on-month increase in performance, especially in revenue mobilisation.
So far, the report further disclosed that the command’s outstanding results in 2025 has positioned it as a key contributor to the Nigeria Customs Service’s broader revenue goals and economic support framework.
He acknowledged the pivotal role the command play in the nation’s economic recovery, while the command is committed to continuing this upward trajectory in revenue generation.
Despite the prevailing economic challenges, the officers have worked tirelessly to facilitate trade, while ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Comptroller Frank Okechukwu Onyeka, pointed out that this act of resilience and dedication in ensuring the efficient collection of customs duties and taxes, underscores the command’s commitment to contribute to the economic stability of Nigeria.
