Comptroller Eghosa Edelduok Is Clearly Repositioning KLT Command For Increasing Revenue

The Customs Area Controller of KLT command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Eghosa Joy Edelduok, stated on the occasion of press briefing at KLT command that the command has recorded N89.2bn in the first half of this year.
She described the first half of the year as being active and productive, driven by a firm commitment to increasing revenue, supporting legitimate trade, and tracking smuggling in all its forms.
During the period under review, she commended the command for implementing focused reforms, targeting enforcement activities, and practical strategies to boost compliance, protect the national economy, and secure the borders under its jurisdiction.
In addition to this, she said these measures produced clear results and strengthened the command’s ability to deliver on its mandate.
Comptroller Edelduok, who said the command recorded a total revenue collection of
₦89,205,500,741.85 during the period under review, also said this figure represented a substantial increase, compared to the corresponding period in 2024, which stood at ₦54,806,893,697.00
Besides, she said the difference of
₦34,398,607,044.85 only reflects a 63 percent growth, demonstrating the command’s enhanced operational efficiency and improved compliance levels.
Commenting on the anti-smuggling operations of the command, Comptroller Edelduok said that the command maintained a posture of alertness, discipline, and zero tolerance for infractions.
Condemning the smuggling activities Comptroller Edelduok disclosed that the enforcement team intercepted two (2) forty-foot containers, identified as HLBU 1067338 and HLBU 2239792, both loaded with expired pharmaceutical products, with a cumulative Duty Paid Value (DPV) of
₦130,000,000.00 only.
She noted that these items contravene the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other import laws, adding that the Command has commenced the formal process of handing them over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for necessary action.
The KLT Customs Boss, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to applying the law without compromise in order to protect public health, and uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and professionalism in all aspects of its operations.
She further assured that the Command would continue to engage constructively with stakeholders through open communication, inter-agency cooperation, and compliance-driven facilitation.
She expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders and partner agencies for their continued cooperation and support, describing their contributions as critical to the effective delivery of the command’s mandate and the advancement of the national economy.
The Customs Area Controller, who commended the officers and men of the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command for their diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty, also urged them to maintain high standard and continue to uphold the values of the Service in all their engagements.
Aside from this, Comptroller Edelduok conveyed deep gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and his management team for their strategic guidance, motivation, and the enabling environment provided for operational success.
In addition to this, she extended her appreciation to the media for their consistent and objective coverage, noting that their contributions were invaluable in strengthening public trust and institutional accountability.
At the end of the press briefing Comptroller Edelduok emphasized that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal command remains dedicated to the diligent discharge of its statutory responsibilities in alignment with the broader goals of national security, economic growth, and service excellence.
