Comptroller Salawu Takes Over Mantle Of Leadership At Lagos Industrial Command As Comptroller Wadinda Retires
The Lagos Industrial Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, has recently handed over its mantle of leadership from Comptroller Sarah Mamza Wadinda (retired) to Comptroller Adebola Salawu.
A press release by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Juliana Destiny Tomo, indicate that the handing over ceremony took place on Monday, 8th September, 2025 at the command.
The outgoing Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Sarah Mamza Wadinda is reported to have retired shortly after the commissioning of the ‘Customs Cares’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at the Festac Senior Grammar School in August 2025.
Besides, the retiring Customs Area Controller, is said to have constructed and installed water treatment plant, established an electronic library, and as well, provided a photocopier machine for the school.
Similarly, the retired Comptroller Wadinda further refurbished and painted some areas of the school, including the school toilet.
She disclosed that the success of the CSR project was achieved with the collaboration and support of some stakeholders of the command.
Comptroller Wadinda, expressed her profound gratitude to the Comptroller- General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR for the confidence reposed on her to serve at the Lagos Industrial Area Command.
She further enjoined all officers of the command to continue to exercise their competence, by giving their maximum cooperation to her successor, for continuous trade facilitation towards an enhanced revenue collection.
In conclusion of her speech, Comptroller Wadinda affirmed that her career fulfilment would be mirrored in the legacy she left behind for her successor.
In her response, the new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Adebola Salawu, commended the good work of her predecessor and wished her success in her future endeavors.
She equally enjoined all officers of the Lagos Industrial Area Command to extend the same hands of cooperation to her tenure as the CAC.
At the end, Comptroller Salawu, also used the medium to call on officers of the command to take advantage of the recently introduced Unified Customs Management System, also known as B’Odogwu, with emphasis on in-house training of officers, and stakeholders’ engagement, to enhance excise performance towards the economic growth of the nation
