NCS, UAE Customs Intercept Tramadol At Lagos Airport
In line with the inter-agency collaboration, the Nigeria Customs Service and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Customs administration including other international partners, has intercepted a large consignment of Tap Tramadol 250mg at the Murtala Muhammed Area Command (MMAC), Lagos, in an attempt to smuggle the illicit drugs into Nigeria.
So far, the seized items was formally handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently, for further investigation and action.
Commenting during the official handover ceremony, the Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Godwin Otunla, said the successful operation reflects the NCS’s sustained efforts to combating the trafficking of controlled substances that pose serious threats to public health and national security.
He commended the officers of the Special WILD Office of the Nigeria Customs Service Intelligence Unit for their professionalism and timely intelligence, which played a critical role in the successful interception.
Comptroller Godwin Otunla also commended the dedication and teamwork of officers and men involved in the operation.
Additionally, he acknowledged the technical support and cooperation received from the United Arab Emirates’ Customs.
Comptroller Otunla who said their assistance was instrumental in identifying and intercepting this illegal shipment, also said their efforts has further demonstrated the importance of international collaboration in the fight against transnational crime.
He further reaffirmed the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and intelligence-driven operations in the collective interest of national security.
