The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) and Zonal Coordinator for Zone ‘B’, Nsikan Patrick Umoh, has commended the leadership and personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command, for their discipline, professionalism and dedication to duty.
The commendation was contained in a press release signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Suleiman Sani Mohammed, on behalf of the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, and issued on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
ACG Umoh gave the commendation on Monday, August 10, 2026, during an official oversight visit to the Command’s Headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State, as part of her ongoing tour of operational commands within Zone ‘B’.

Addressing officers and men of the Command, the Zonal Coordinator disclosed that since assuming office, her headquarters had not received any adverse report against the Kwara Area Command.
She said the clean operational record reflected the high level of professionalism, discipline and integrity demonstrated by personnel of the Command in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Umoh, who delivered the goodwill message of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, urged officers to maintain the standards that had earned the Command a positive reputation.
She charged them to remain responsible in their conduct both on and off duty, while warning against involvement in illicit drugs, sharp practices and other activities capable of undermining the integrity of the Service.
The ACG also urged officers to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service and work together as a family towards achieving the objectives of the Service.
She assured the personnel of the continued support of both the Zonal and Service Headquarters, stressing the importance of unity, discipline and professionalism in effective customs administration.
The Acting Customs Area Controller, Kwara Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, who welcomed the Zonal Coordinator, also outlined the major achievements, operational milestones and administrative successes recorded by the command under his leadership.
As part of the visit, ACG Umoh also held an interactive session with key trade stakeholders, including leaders of freight forwarding associations, representatives of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and representatives of major excise factories, including ITC and SANICA.
During the engagement, the Zonal Coordinator commended the existing synergy between the command and the trading community.
Additionally, she addressed concerns raised by stakeholders regarding cargo clearance procedures, examination timelines and regional trade competitiveness, and also provided explanations and clarifications that were warmly received by the representatives.
Significantly, the engagement provided an opportunity for the Service and members of the business community to discuss ways of improving trade facilitation, while ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
Importantly, the visit ended with a tour of the command’s facilities, including its administrative offices, warehouse and residential barracks.
Indeed, ACG Umoh expressed satisfaction with the level of orderliness, environmental cleanliness and discipline observed during the inspection.
Accordingly, the oversight visit formed part of the Zonal Coordinator’s ongoing tour of operational commands within Zone ‘B’, aimed at assessing their operations, engaging personnel and stakeholders, strengthening professionalism, and efficiency in customs administration.
