Jonah Achema, Commander Of Narcotics, NDLEA Lekki Port Says NDLEA Will Remain Consistent To Sustain Collaboration
The Commander of Narcotics (CN) Area Commander, NDLEA Lekki Port Area Command, Jonah Achema, in his remarks at the handing over of seized drug exhibits by the Ag. Customs Area Controller, Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) On October 15, 2026 at Lekki Port, assured the Controller and the entire sister agencies that the NDLEA will remain consistent, and will continue to sustain the collaboration that has brought the streak of successes of the command.
He said it is with great pleasure and a profound sense of responsibility that he welcomed critical stakeholders to this important occasion marking the handover of seized illicit drugs by the combined efforts of NDLEA, Nigeria Customs Service and other sister agencies.
He formally welcomed and congratulated the new Acting Customs Area Controller, Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, Deputy Comptroller Olufemi Kukoyi to LFTZ and Lekki Port in particular on his new appointment following the retirement of Controller H. K. A. Abubakar who has been a dependable ally of the command.

Accordingly, he said the event, is coming barely few days after the take-over of the customs command by the new CAC sends a very strong signal that the CAC is ready to take inter-agency collaboration as well as the counter-narcotic onslaught to the next level.
Additionally, he said the event sends the appropriate message to the unscrupulous maritime drug criminals that their operations will only end in the drag net of the Agency.
He disclosed that the seizure being handed over, standing at 400 kilograms of Cannabis indica from Thailand is huge by all standards.
He pointed out that this is coming after other phenomenal seizures in the Port such as two containers of illicit pharmaceutical opioids (tramadol 225, tramaking royal 250) with a total weight of 46 tonnes and an estimated street value of N35 billion.

He noted that the modest outstanding performance of the command is only consistent with the vision, mission and operational promise of Chairman/Chief Executive Officer Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Rtd) CFR, OON anchored on disrupting, dismantling and defeating the drug mercantility.
Beyond all these, he said this particular seizure coming in the wake of the visit of the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer to Lekki Port is a promise redeemed.
Still, he revealed that the command with sustainable vigilance, proactive and intelligence driven approach, has at the end of the day almost made Lekki Port impervious for illicit drug shipments.

Jonah Achema, boldly say this because the container was to be flown even above the Port, but was stepped down for 100% examination upon credible intelligence.
